Dr. Katherine Brown NCC., EDd.
I am excited to announce that I have obtained my Doctorate, an EdD in Counseling, from the department of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Research at the University of Memphis. Additionally, I have a Master’s in Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the same department, and graduated with honors in Psychology from Hendrix College.
I specialize in working with clients who identify as transgender/gender non-binary/queer and can provide letters of recommendation for gender reassignment surgery and hormone replacement therapy if appropriate. I have also worked extensively with older adults with dementia and with clients of all ages on loss and grief, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and anger management. I am currently accepting new adult and teenage clients (beginning at age 13).
I enjoy working with individuals on such concerns as meaning-making, identity, self-esteem, and empowerment. I believe in taking an active stance in building your own life story; thus, I often take a narrative approach to therapy. I tend to be integrative in technique, however, as best suits a client's particular needs.
